Awana Clubs

Leading Kids Worldwide to Know, Love and Serve Christ

Awana helps churches and parents work together to develop spiritually strong children and youth who faithfully follow Jesus Christ. Our programs offer a proven approach for evangelizing and discipling kids in the church and community.

As a ministry leader for nearly 60 years, Awana is making an impact. A recent national survey found Awana to be as important to our alumni’s spiritual foundation as all other church activities combined. Among alumni who participated in our programs for at least six years, 92.7 percent still attend church at least weekly as adults!

Each week, more than one million kids ages 2 to 18 participate in Awana. Over 12,000 churches in the U.S. and 6,500 internationally run Awana programs that change young lives through biblical truth.

Lake Drummond Baptist Church meets for Awana Clubs on Sunday night from 6:00 pm until 7:45 pm during the Chesapeake public school year.  June 13th, 2010 will be the last night of our first year with Awana Clubs and we will pick back up with a “Kick-Off” night on September 12th, 2010 for our second year with Awana Clubs from Cubbies to 12th Grade.

Children’s Church

To ensure our children are receiving the same biblical principles that are taught from the pulpit, Lake Drummond Baptist Church has a Children’s Church program which provides Bible teaching and worship for children over nursery age.

Men’s Brotherhood

The Brotherhood is the umbrella support organization for men, young men and boys.   We are a ministry that includes all aspects of individual and group servitude, personal and spiritual growth, fellowship and missions related activities. The principal purpose of the Brotherhood is to reach men for Christ; to help men grow in acknowledging Him as Lord of their lives; to encourage men to be obedient to His Word and to challenge men to pursue His Holiness.   The Men’s Brotherhood mirrors the structure of the Woman’s Auxiliary and is the cornerstone of building Christian Leaders for the future of the church.

Every Monday night the Brotherhood meets for Monday Night Man Time in the parsonage at 7:30 pm for food, fellowship, devotion and fun.  Young and old alike are welcome as we gather round the table and get to know and enjoy fellowship with one another.

Music Ministry

The music ministry is the music education, training and performance organization of the church.   It provides music within our church and our community that promotes worship and fellowship as well as training church members to develop and utilize their musical talents.   Our music ministry is extremely active, not only within the church, but also as a means of outreach in the local community.   Opportunities exist for people of all ages to “sing praises unto the Lord.”

Nursery Ministry

Lake Drummond Baptist Church provides a Nursery Ministry which not only provides for the “sitting” of young children during times of worship, but we also endeavor to make the time fulfilling for the children placed in our trust.   Whether it be biblical tapes, crafts, or stories, our children receive the biblical foundation required to enhance early Christian growth.  Nursery services are available during both Sunday morning Worship Services and Sunday School.

Sunday School Program

At Lake Drummond Baptist Church, our Sunday School Program is the basic organization for the Bible teaching program. The tasks stressed are to teach the biblical revelation, reach persons for Christ, and interpret information regarding the work of the church and the denomination. Our Sunday School Program is organized by departments and classes appropriate for all ages.

Vacation Bible School

Each year, our church sets aside one full week to conduct a Vacation Bible School.   Our VBS as we call it is intended to provide a fun time for children of all ages; to expose them to the Bible, as well as to reach children, youth, and their families for Jesus Christ.   Our VBS is free and is packed full of Biblical stories, skits, crafts, and music.   It’s open to children (and adults) of all ages, regardless of age, denominational background, or religious belief.

Our 2009 session ran Sunday – Friday, 7/26-31, 6-8:30 pm.  The children traveled “down under” to the Australian Outback on the Boomerang Express while learning that “It All Comes Back to Jesus.”

Saddle up for VBS 2010 where kids will be ridin’ the range and roundin’ up questions like, “What is God’s plan for me?” and “How can I be like Jesus?”  At the end of the day, they’ll discover God’s Word has all the answers!  The motto for this year’s VBS is, “Need Answers? Ask God.”  VBS 2010 will run Sunday – Friday, 7/25-30, 6-8:45 pm.  Theme verse this year is James 1:5.

Women’s Auxiliary

The Women’s Auxiliary is the umbrella support organization for women, young women, girls, and preschool children. The Women’s Auxiliary is a ministry that includes all aspects of individual and group servitude, personal and spiritual growth, fellowship and missions related activities. The principal purpose of the Women’s Auxiliary is to reach women for Christ; to help women grow in acknowledging Him as Lord of their lives; to encourage women to be obedient to His Word and to challenge women to pursue His Holiness.

Youth Ministry

Lake Drummond Baptist Church provides a comprehensive Youth Ministry that meets the spiritual needs of young people in grades 7 through 12. The purpose of this program is to reach youth for Christ, to help them grow in understanding and in Christian maturity, and to provide opportunities for service and recreation.

Studentz Camp ‘10 ran from Monday through Friday, July 12th through July 16th.  The theme for the week was “Wipeout” from Romans 8:13. Our Lord blessed the time we were at Liberty University with safe travel, changed lives and souls saved. Ken Freeman challenged our Youth with Biblical principals to live by as Blue Tree and Humble TIP led with music to worship by.  Mission Track had us working with Oasis Church in Amherst County filling pot holes with 8.5 tons of gravel, spreading four dump trailers of mulch at Amherst Middle School and washing police cars for Amherst Sherrif Dept.

Looking forward to what God has in store for us at SBCV Studentz Camp ‘11!

YEC is Youth Evangelism Conference which takes place mid year between Studentz Camps.
